Call for Presentation Proposals

Theme
Globally, innovation is recognized as the driving force towards lasting sustainable prosperity in the coming decades. The federal government’s S&T strategy promotes action to grow the translation of knowledge into commercial applications that generate wealth for Canadians and support a high quality of life. We have the opportunity to build a world-class innovation ecosystem in Canada. The challenge is to foster increased partnerships and collaboration among public, academic and private sectors to ensure we improve knowledge mobilization and commercialization for world-class next generation products and services. In keeping with these challenges and opportunities, ACCT Canada, Federal Partners in Technology Transfer (FPTT) and the Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) are pleased to present their first national joint conference on innovation and competitiveness in Canada: INNOVATION 2010.

The INNOVATION 2010 Conference will be a groundbreaking summit on Canadian leaders from publicly-funded research organizations and private enterprises gathered for the express purpose of building the next generation of partnerships, networks and tools to accelerate knowledge mobilization and commercialization of innovation for the benefit of Canadians.

Conference Objectives:

  • Promote the development of next-generation approaches for the mobilization and commercialization of Canadian innovation
  • Strengthen partnerships and collaborations among the partnering organizations with their industry and community partners
  • Motivate partners, stakeholders and key science leaders to discover new opportunities for business-focused relationships
  • Propose new approaches for increasing and accelerating private sector leadership for world-class innovation competitiveness

This unique national event will bring together experts, industry leaders and policy makers who are seeking new and creative ways to use and deploy innovation in their business, organizations and institutions alike.

The INNOVATION 2010 Conference will include cutting-edge presentations on a wide range of topics that are being organized within three streams:

CONNECT
The Connect stream will focus on developing new interactions and discussions between leaders in all sectors on key concepts of innovation, commercialization and prospecting for opportunities.

COLLABORATE
The Collaborate stream will be targeted to those who are seeking to share or discuss new forms of development and research collaborations. Such collaborations could be multi-centered innovation or commercialization programs. This stream will focus on successful examples of partnerships for the knowledge mobilization and commercialization of research investments.

COMMERCIALIZE
The Commercialization stream will be the opportunity for leaders in the private sector, government or academia/non-profit sectors to share proven novel and creative approaches that have built new bridges with private section partners. The goal in this stream should be to give participants working “take-aways” that they can adopt and deploy in their own business or research environment.
